- What is your company’s mission?
-
With STACKIT, we offer companies scalable innovative cloud and colocation services with European data security standards - from classic infrastructure outsourcing to modern development environments. We started out to drive digital transformation within the Schwarz Group with our own cloud solutions. And today we bring other companies into the cloud - EU-SECURE. SIMPLE. STABLE.
- What makes your company a great place to work?
-
As a small independent unit in a start-up atmosphere, we live flat hierarchies and open doors. Not because we must, but because we are convinced that this will help us reach our goal faster and easier. Everyone in the team is valuable and makes a significant contribution to implementing our mission. We have many examples of practiced eye level: We see clothing as a feel-good factor, being on first-name terms is part of good manners, and every employee's opinion is important and is heard. In short, we are hands-on, i.e. we think and act pragmatically and are real doers. All STACKIT teams work quickly and independently in their sprints. They usually bear the complete responsibility for a product - with everything that goes with it.
Our team members identify with their topics and help each other when things get tight. To produce fast and usable results, our way of working is mostly agile. Whether we use Scrum, or another framework doesn't matter; the methodology must always fit the circumstance. In the agile way of working, we are permanently supported by 2 Scrum Masters, who have their ear to the teams on a full-time basis.
- What feature is missing in PostgreSQL and how would it help if added?
-
We would like to offer transparent data encryption, as more and more of our users are asking for it. This feature would allow more customers to use PostgreSQL instead of other databases. Mainly due to auditing requirements the customer needs this feature to have this kind of security.
- What makes you want to attend the PGConf.DE conference?
-
We have built our own Postgres service and offer it on STACKIT. This is our first time at PGConf.DE and we would like to have nice talks about Postgres and get feedback about our service. We can also talk about problems we had during development and how we solved them.
- In which areas do you expect PostgreSQL to grow most and how does your company contribute to and benefit from that growth?
-
We are trying to contribute to the community. Currently, the number of database instances is growing and we are looking forward to getting rid of other database vendors in the On Premises environment.
